UC Riverside Women’s Basketball program all-time leading scorer Brittany Crain Class of 2016 recently signed a professional contract to play for Peli-Karhut in Finland for the 2017-18 season.

“I’m very excited to be signed to Peli-Karhut for my second opportunity playing overseas,” said the John W. North High School graduate. “I’ve learned and experienced a lot of things that I hope will help me become successful with this team and others in the future. I’m happy to be a part of the Riverside Community, as they have been huge supporters of my future and present endeavors.”

Crain sits atop the UCR individual career lists with 2,326 points and 245 made three-pointers. She led the 2015-16 Highlanders to the Big West regular season championship with a perfect 16-0 conference record, while pouring in 22.5 points a game–good enough for eighth in the nation.

She caught the eye of the Finnish squad through her agency, which sent her to play on a USA Select Basketball Team tour to China. She got her first dose of international play earlier this year in Luxembourg.

According to Crain, Peli-Karhut stresses teamwork and defense. Her contract is for 8-9 months, and the season gets underway in September.
