The California Collegiate Athletic Association’s 2017 Spring All-Academic list featured 27 Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes in the sports of baseball and men’s and women’s track & field, the conference office announced.

A total of 318 student-athletes were honored across the conference’s 13 schools. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or above, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and have competed in a CCAA sponsored sport that season.

Women’s track & field led the way with 14 athletes named to the list followed by eight from the men’s team and five from baseball. Leading the way in women’s track and field for the Broncos was their distance and middle distance standout Symone Booker. Booker played in key role in the team’s success, which is why she made the All-Academic list before.

CPP’s total of 27 athletes named to the list ranks as the fifth most of all the CCAA schools.

Women’s Basketball

The Cal Poly Pomona women’s basketball team recently announced two newcomers for the upcoming 2017-18 season in sophomore transfer Mylah Andrada and freshman Cameran Bahnsen.

The Broncos are coming off a third-place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association regular season standings, making an appearance in the conference postseason tournament, advancing to the semifinals.

CPP led the league in points allowed, giving up only 57.7 points per game and had the third highest scoring margin.
