Long Beach Free After School Programs Resume August 26

This fall, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) will once again offer programs to engage youth during after school hours. The After School Programs are for children ages 5 to 12 and will take place at varying times per location, weekdays from Aug. 26 through Dec. 20, 2024.

 This is a free drop-in program where registered participants may come and go as they please. Participants will receive homework assistance and enjoy enrichment activities and games. Pre-registration is required. To register, participants can visit the park of their choice during the specified hours starting Monday, Aug. 12. After School Programs will take place at the following Long Beach parks during the specified times:

 Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 5 p.m.

  • College Estates Park, 808 Stevely Ave.
  • MacArthur Park, 1321 E. Anaheim St.
  • Pan American Park, 5157 E. Centralia St.
  • Veterans Park, 101 E. 28th St.
  • Whaley Park, 5620 E. Atherton St.

 

Monday through Friday, 3 to 6 p.m.

  • Bixby Park, 130 Cherry Ave.
  • Cesar E. Chavez Park, 401 Golden Ave.
  • Coolidge Park, 352 E. Neece St.
  • Drake Park, 951 Maine Ave.
  • El Dorado Park West, 2800 N. Studebaker Rd.
  • Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Ave.
  • McBride Park, 1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Orizaba Park, 1435 Orizaba Ave.
  • Ramona Park, 3301 E. 65th St.
  • Seaside Park, 14th Street at Chestnut Ave.
  • Silverado Park, 1545 W. 31st St.
  • Scherer Park, 4600 Long Beach Blvd.
  • Somerset Park, 1500 E. Carson St.
  • Stearns Champions Park 4520 E. 23rd St.
  • Wardlow Park, 3457 Stanbridge Ave.
