SBVC to Host Candidate Forum Ahead of Local Elections

San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) will host a nonpartisan candidate forum for mayoral and city council candidates on April 29–30, giving students and community members a chance to engage directly with candidates shaping San Bernardino’s future.

The forum will take place from 5–7:30 p.m. each evening at SBVC’s Greek Theatre. Candidates for the Ward 1 and Ward 2 council seats will participate on April 29, while candidates for the Ward 4 council seat and mayor will attend on April 30.

SBVC is partnering with the League of Women Voters to host the forum as part of an effort to promote civic engagement, voter education, and informed participation in local democracy.

“Community colleges play an important role in helping students understand how democracy works and how their voices matter,” said SBVC President Dr. Gilbert J. Contreras. “By bringing local candidates to campus, our students and community members can experience the democratic process up close while engaging with the issues that shape the future of San Bernardino and the Inland Empire. We’re proud to create a space where civic dialogue and community leadership can come together.”

For a century, San Bernardino Valley College has served as an educational and civic anchor for the region, connecting students with the economic, cultural, and public life of the Inland Empire.

Food vendors and free parking will be available during the event.
