S.B. Native Named NFL Rookie of the Year

San Bernardino native Jayden Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders, was a two-time winner during the 14th annual NFL Honors ceremony recently. The rookie quarterback was just one vote shy of being named unanimous choice for Offensive Rookie of the Year. His other recognition might have been the obvious choice as well. Daniels’ hail Mary pass during the week 8 game against the Chicago Bears vaulted the Commanders to an 18-15 win over the Bears. That play earned Daniels the Next Gen Stat Moment of the Year. Daniels had the greatest rookie performance by a quarterback in NFL history. Daniels 2024 stats that led to ROTY honors include leading the team to 12-5 record after they went 4-13 the year before. During the regular season Daniels had 3,568 total yards, with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions with a 100.1 passer rating. Including his post season stats, Daniels had 5,416 total yards, including 4,390 passing and 1,026 rushing, 30 passing touchdowns and 7 rushing touchdowns.
